The bus, carrying around 40 children, collided with their motorcycle, also injuring a woman. Villagers heroically rescued the trapped schoolchildren, preventing further casualties.

KANPUR: A private school bus overloaded with children overturned into a water-filled ditch on the Saadh-Jahanabad road near Gopalpur village in the Bithoor area of Kanpur on Thursday morning around 7:45 AM, resulting in the deaths of a father and son riding a motorcycle.The bus, belonging to Mithilesh Singh Shivmangal Singh Inter College in Gopalpur village, was returning to school with approximately 40 children from Saadh when it ran over Raju Nigam (25), his father Suresh Nigam (59), and sister Priyanka (20) on a motorcycle. The collision caused the bus to lose control and overturn.Authorities reported that Suresh and his son died instantly at the scene, while Priyanka sustained injuries. She was en route to a coaching class in Saadh at the time of the accident.As the bus filled with water, the trapped schoolchildren panicked. Villagers from Gopalpur, Maniyapur, Saadh, Daulatpur, and Karchulipur responded promptly by breaking the bus windows and rescuing the children. One student was seriously injured and admitted to Bithoor CHC.

Police arrived subsequently after receiving the accident report.Upon hearing about the tragic development, villagers from the deceased father and son's village blocked the road by placing their bodies on it demanding necessary action and compensation.Half of the bus was submerged in water. Within ten minutes, dozens of young men had arrived, risking their lives to ensure the safe rescue of all children. The bus was carrying more than 40 students of various ages. It was noted that the overloaded bus also belonged to Gopalpur village.If the villagers had not gathered promptly, the accident could have resulted in more casualties.
