Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held a significant discussion aimed at ending the Ukraine conflict and enhancing bilateral ties. Modi thanked Italy for its active support in concluding a mutually beneficial India-EU trade agreement and advancing the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEEC) initiative. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the leaders reviewed developments across sectors including defence, investment, security, science, technology, education, and counter-terrorism. Both reaffirmed their commitment to deepen the India-Italy strategic partnership through the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29. They exchanged views on global and regional issues, stressing the importance of a peaceful resolution in Ukraine. Meloni also expressed strong backing for India’s AI Impact Summit scheduled for 2026. The two leaders agreed to stay connected for ongoing cooperation.
