Indore: A driver of a car was killed, and a businessman and his daughter were injured when their vehicle caught fire on Delhi-Mumbai expressway near Bawdi village in Ratlam district on Tuesday afternoon.
The victims were traveling from Jhabua to Ratlam when their car’s tyre burst and the vehicle hit a truck from behind, halted at a railing and burst into flames. The driver, Rohit Muniya (28), a resident of Meghnagar, died on the spot.
Narendra (48), a grocery businessman, and his daughter, Tisha (22), sustained injuries.
The police said that they were traveling to Ratlam for Tisha’s Chartered Accountancy examination scheduled for Tuesday. Police arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and transported the injured to the medical college.
“We have recorded Tisha’s statement as part of the ongoing investigation,” Shivgarh police station in-charge RK Makwana said, adding the truck involved in the accident has been seized.
