Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) demolished portions of two factories on Friday to facilitate widening of the MR-4 Master Plan road.
The demolition targeted 16 metres of Diwakar Copy House and 10 metres of Vindhya Enterprises. The civic body official Ashish Rathore said construction of the 30-metre wide road (with a proposed 45-metre width in the 2021 Master Plan) was stalled due to the structures. While the owners had obtained stay orders from court in 2022, the cases were resolved in Dec 2025.
As the land is owned by District Industries Centre (DIC), the corporation was authorised to proceed with the removal using heavy machinery under police supervision.
In a separate operation, the district administration cleared illegal encroachment from land allocated for a govt college in Kampel and Pivday.
SDM Priyanka Chaurasia stated that several people had illegally occupied the govt land by sowing crops. A joint team of administration and police cleared the site and handed over formal possession to the college principal.
The SDM said that similar action against the encroachment of govt land would continue across the district.
