GRP constable booked for rape & criminal intimidation in Indore
Indore: A police constable attached to the Govt Railway Police (GRP) was booked for allegedly raping a woman under the pretext of marriage. Kanadia police have lodged an FIR following a complaint from a 35-year-old woman originally from Maharashtra and currently residing in Bhopal.The police said, the woman met the accused of GRP Line Bhopal, through social media in 2018 while she was studying in Indore. She alleged that the man lured her into a relationship by promising marriage. In Nov 2018, he reportedly took her to a govt quarters in Kanadia, where the first instance of sexual assault occurred.The woman stated that despite initial consent from both families, the accused repeatedly delayed the wedding. Following the death of her mother in 2021 and her father in 2023, the accused began distancing himself and eventually refused to marry her.The woman later discovered that the man was in a live-in relationship with another woman and had become engaged elsewhere in Feb 2026. When she confronted him in Bhopal on Feb 13, the accused allegedly threatened to leak her private photos and videos.The woman initially filed a complaint in Bhopal, which was subsequently transferred to Indore. Kanadia police have now registered a case against the constable for rape and criminal intimidation.
