Four of inter-state gang that broke-in through strong iron grille in 7 minutes arrested; valuables worth Rs37 lakh recovered
Indore: Mandsaur police have arrested four members of the notorious ‘Lachhu Gang,’ a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in a series of burglaries across multiple states. The gang is known for its tactical precision, breaching secure residential iron grilles within seven minutes using specialized tools.
Acting on a tip-off that the gang was planning a fresh heist at an isolated location, a team from Nahargarh police station cordoned off the area and apprehended four suspects.
Mandsaur superintendent of police Vinod Kumar Meena said that police had recovered stolen items worth Rs 37 lakh. The seized items include gold and silver jewelry worth Rs 25 lakh, a four-wheeler valued at Rs 12 lakh, electronic cutters, hammers, screwdrivers, masks and gloves used during the crime.
“The gang utilised electronic cutters and heavy hammers to rapidly cut through window or door grilles, allowing quick entry and exit. The gang had committed 11 burglaries in Mandsaur district alone,” the SP told TOI.
During questioning, the accused told police that the gang was operational across several states including Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Punjab, Rajasthan and ten districts in Madhya Pradesh.
The arrested individuals have been identified as 28-year-old Ganesh, 50-year-old Kailash; both residents of Alirajpur, 27-year-old Chhotu Vasuniya 23-year-old Dinesh, both residents of Dhar.
Police have identified six members of this network. While the kingpin and three others are in custody, a search was underway for other two accused.
