Haveri: Tunga Vidyavardhaka Sangha in Thirthahalli, Shivamogga district, has announced two years of free PU education for students wo have scored above 70% in SSLC, marking its diamond jubilee celebrations. Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, Tunga PU College principal Prasanna KL said the institution, founded in 1967, is entering its diamond jubilee year. The Sangha has played a major role in expanding education in the region through its PU colleges, degree colleges and postgraduate study centres. The institution has always treated education as a service rather than a business and has consistently supported meritorious and economically weaker students through free education initiatives. "The management will now extend free PU education for two years to eligible students, as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations," he said and noted that a total of 150 seats will be offered under the scheme—50 each in arts, science and commerce. The college has urged students from across the district to make use of the opportunity. "The institution also offers modern infrastructure, laboratories, a library, a playground and hostel facilities," he shared. Director LK Nataraj was present.
