Dharwad: In a move expected to bring relief to railway passengers in Dharwad, railway authorities have agreed to reopen the second PRS (passenger reservation system) ticket counter at Dharwad railway station after intervention by Union minister for consumer affairs, food and public distribution and new and renewable energy, Pralhad Joshi.
The second PRS ticket counter, which had earlier been functioning during the 2pm to 8pm shift, had been discontinued recently, causing inconvenience to passengers, especially during peak hours. Commuters and local residents had expressed concern over long queues and delays in ticket booking due to the suspension of the counter.
Taking note of the public inconvenience, Union minister Pralhad Joshi wrote to the concerned railway authorities urging them to immediately resume operations of the second ticket counter in the larger public interest and ensure smooth passenger services at the station.
Responding positively to the minister's request, railway officials on Wednesday directed the reopening of the second PRS ticket counter at the Dharwad railway station.
The decision is expected to significantly benefit passengers by reducing waiting time and improving reservation services at the station. Citizens of Dharwad have expressed gratitude to the Union minister for promptly addressing the issue and facilitating the restoration of the service.
