Eid celebrated in Hubballi with religious fervour
Hubballi: Muslim brethren celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervour across Hubballi city on Saturday.Though the space was short at Eidgah Maidan near Channamma Circle, they peacefully sat on nearby roads and participated in mass namaz. A large number of devotees gathered at the Idgah Maidan to offer the special Eid prayers, praying for peace and prosperity in the country. Former minister AM Hindasgeri, who is also president of Anjuman-E-Islam, Hubballi, Yusuf Savanur, Altaf Halwoor, Ashpaq Kumtakar and other leaders attended the prayer. Hindasgeri interacted with the community members, exchanging Eid greetings and discussing various social and developmental initiatives for the city.Celebration was also held at Idgah Maidan in Old Hubballi. Roads in the city wore a festive look at Ganesh Pet, Old Hubballi, Station Road and Karwar Road, where the Muslim population is comparatively high. Celebrations highlighted peace, love and brotherhood. Many non-Muslim people also accepted the invitation of Muslim brethren and visited their houses and consumed sheerkurma and other dishes.Police ensured smooth movement of traffic by diverting or halting vehicles during prayer time.
A group of Muslim youths, led by Ashpaq Kumtakar, visited Moorusavir Math and exchanged greetings with Gangadhar Rajayogindra Mahaswamiji of the mutt. NWKRTC former chairman Sadanand Danganavar, writer Channabasappa Dharwad Shettar and others were present on the occasion.
