Gurgaon: A 38-year-old transporter from Bhiwani died after a speeding canter truck collided head-on with his pickup vehicle near Sultanpur village in Farrukhnagar late Friday night.
The canter driver was taken into custody, and an FIR was filed under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of BNS.
The victim, Amarjeet, a resident of Rewari Kheda village in Bhiwani district, ran a transport business and was temporarily staying at Sultanpur village in Gurgaon.
According to the complaint filed by his elder brother Vinod Kumar Parmar, Amarjeet was returning home from his transport office near Farrukhnagar bypass in his Camper vehicle bearing registration number HR-26FS-2955 around 10.15pm on May 16.
“As he reached near the Indane Gas Agency on the Farrukhnagar-Gurgaon road at Sultanpur, a canter bearing registration number DL-1LAF-7175 coming from the opposite direction hit his vehicle at high speed,” an officer said.
The impact of the collision left Amarjeet trapped inside the damaged vehicle. Passers-by and local villagers pulled him out and alerted his family members.
Vinod Kumar and his younger brother Robin Kumar rushed to the spot and took Amarjeet to SGT Hospital in Budhera, where doctors declared him dead.
Police said the canter driver was caught by local residents immediately after the accident and later handed to the police.
The officer said, “Police reached the accident spot after receiving information during patrol duty at Delhi Gate, Farrukhnagar. The body was shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem examination, and proceedings under Section 194 BNSS were initiated.”
An FIR was registered at Farrukhnagar police station on Saturday, and further investigation is under way.
