25-Year-Old Sextortion Gang Member Held in Mewat for Rs 2.5 Lakh Cyber Blackmail Case

New Delhi: A 25-year-old man allegedly linked to a sextortion gang that blackmailed victims using explicit videos has been arrested in Mewat. The accused has been identified as Abas Khan.The case surfaced after a resident of Shalimar Bagh filed an online complaint reporting cyber fraud of ₹2.5 lakh. He stated that he first received a social media friend request from a woman, who during the conversation obtained his mobile number. Soon after, he received a WhatsApp video call during which an obscene clip was played, prompting him to disconnect.Shortly thereafter, he began receiving messages claiming that his actions had been recorded and threatening to circulate the footage unless money was paid. Under coercion, he transferred Rs 2.52 lakh.
