2yo BA student swept away in Rishikesh’s Ganga

Haridwar: A 20-year-old man from Almora was swept away in the strong currents of the Ganga river while bathing near Hilton Rapid in the Lakshman Jhula area of Rishikesh on Saturday evening. The incident occurred after he had entered a restricted ghat area with a friend.The missing man has been identified as Harshit Upadhyay, a resident of Bhikiyasen in Almora district. He was a BA student at a Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya in Vrindavan, Mathura, and had come to Rishikesh to attend a katha at Sita Ram Ashram.After receiving information about the incident, the SDRF launched a search operation with the help of local police. Local SDRF in-charge Kavindra Sajwan said, “Soon after receiving the information, teams rushed to the spot and deep divers launched a search operation, but failed to trace him.”
