Three arrested for possessing 1,200 painkiller tablets in Bhavani
ERODE: The Bhavani police in Erode district have arrested three men for illegally possessing 1,200 painkiller tablets. The arrested men have been identified as K Damodaran, 26, of Erode, S Vignesh, 29, of Anthiyur and Abdul Majeed, 27, of Madurai.The police had received a tip-off about the sale of painkiller tablets in the town. Acting on this information, the police conducted searches. Around 2am on Tuesday, the cops stopped three men riding on two-wheelers on the Bhavani - Andhiyur Main Road. "Upon questioning, it was revealed that they were in possession of 1,200 painkiller tablets intended for sale to college students who would dilute them in water and inject into their bodies to get high," said an officer at the Bhavani police station. The police seized 1,200 tablets, two motorcycles and four mobile phones from the trio. They were remanded in judicial custody.
