Donald Trump’s Tariff Shock Won’t Last, India Will Strike Deal: Israeli Economist Shmuel Abramzon

Israel’s Chief Economist Shmuel Abramzon has backed India in the ongoing tariff war with the US, saying the 50% levy on Indian imports is “temporary.” Speaking amid Donald Trump’s threats of more tariffs due to India’s Russian oil trade, Abramzon praised New Delhi as a “good negotiator” capable of turning the tide. He emphasized that India and the US are long-term partners and will ultimately strike a deal to reduce trade barriers. Amid Trump’s aggressive tariff push, Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has stepped in with a message of calm: India and the US will reach a deal. As Trump escalates pressure, India’s resilience and diplomacy will decide whether this standoff ends in confrontation, or a breakthrough.
