CHENNAI: A 24-year-old man was detained for trespassing into the National Security Guard complex near Tambaram. Police said the youth who appeared to suffering from mental disabilities was caught by commandos on Tuesday night inside the complex. The National Security Guard training centre in Peerkankaranai has a high wall and is out of bounds for civilians. Around 10pm on Tuesday, commandos undergoing training noticed a youth loitering around. They caught him and handed him over to police. Police identified him as Abdul Ayub, a native of Krishnagiri. He told police that he had come to visit his relatives in the city. “He said he wanted to look around the campus and managed to enter the complex. He appears to be mentally unstable. He was let off after a stern warning, an officer said. Following the security lapse, security has been beefed up at the complex. ‘Black cat' commandos of National Security Guard (NSG) are segregated into five units, two special action groups (SAGs) manned by officers and jawans from the Army and three SRGs (Special Rangers Groups) comprising personnel from paramilitary forces. National Security Guard (NSG) commandos are trained at this exclusive, 69-acre facility sandwiched between forests and hillocks at Nerkundram off the Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road, about 30km from Chennai.
