Punjab Congress appoints observers across state for civic polls
Chandigarh: Gearing up for the upcoming civic polls, the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) has deployed an extensive network of observers across the state to streamline candidate selection and strengthen on-ground coordination for elections to municipal corporations, councils and nagar panchayats.The appointments were on Tuesday cleared by PPCC president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, according to an order issued by general secretary (organisation) Sandeep Singh Sandhu.Observers will engage with MPs, assembly candidates, district Congress committee chiefs and block-level leaders to assess preparedness. They have been tasked with screening and shortlisting candidates for municipal bodies, overseeing the poll process and gathering feedback from party workers.They have also been directed to coordinate with local leadership, plan field visits and submit detailed reports to the PPCC office by May 12.For key municipal corporations, Anil Joshi has been appointed observer for Batala, Jasbir Singh Dimpa for Pathankot, Kuldeep Singh Vaid for Kapurthala, Sunil Dutti for Hoshiarpur, Simarjit Singh Bains for Mohali, Raminder Awla for Bathinda, MP Gurjit Singh Aujla for Abohar, and MP Amar Singh for Moga.
The list also covers municipal councils across districts, including Avtar Singh Shangera (Jr) for Gurdaspur, Manjit Singh Hambra for Nakodar, Ashwani Sharma for Nawanshahr, Malkiat Singh Dakha for Khanna, Pawan Dewan for Jagraon, Kamaljit Chawla for Anandpur Sahib, Vishnu Sharma for Rajpura and Gurjot Singh Dhindsa for Nabha, among others.Observers for nagar panchayats include Emmanuel Rehmat Masih (Ajnala), Beant Singh Sheron (Rayya), Paramjit Singh Pamma Majitha (Bhikhiwind), Gurjeet Pal Walia (Lohian Khas), Sarita Sharma (Mehatpur) and Surjit Singh Seota (Chamkaur Sahib).
