West Bengal doctor held with counterfeit notes
An MBBS doctor from West Bengal was arrested in Bhopal with 280 counterfeit Rs 500 notes worth Rs 1.4 lakh. Koh-e-Fiza police said he allegedly used UK (+44) numbers on an iPhone for WhatsApp calls to conceal his identity. Acting on a tip-off, police detained him after he was found offering fake currency at lower prices. He reportedly brought counterfeit notes from West Bengal to fund a lavish lifestyle in Bhopal, where he had been living since 2024 after marriage. He has been sent on a 7-day remand.
