Bhopal: Dr Krishna Kumar, assistant professor of general surgery at AIIMS Bhopal, has been award by International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC), according to a press release here on Thursday.The honour was conferred during International Surgical Week (ISW 2026), held as part of the 51st World Congress of the International Society of Surgery (ISS/SIC) in Mexico City.Dr Kumar was recognised for his outstanding contributions to trauma management, emergency surgery, and surgical critical care. With more than seven years of clinical and academic experience, his selection highlights the growing global impact of Indian medical professionals and the excellence being fostered at AIIMS Bhopal.At the congress, Dr Kumar joined an international cohort of surgeons, presented his research, and participated in discussions on innovative approaches to improve patient outcomes, particularly in resource‑limited settings.Trauma surgery, which addresses life‑threatening injuries from accidents and emergencies, remains a critical area of healthcare worldwide. This recognition underscores AIIMS Bhopal’s commitment to advancing medical expertise and strengthening India’s role in global surgical innovation, official said.
