Pilibhit: Three friends in their 20s were killed after a tractor-trolley collided head-on with their motorcycle near a temple on the Bisalpur-Benipur road, around 3km from Bisalpur city, under the Bisalpur Kotwali police station limits, around 8pm on Friday.
The deceased — Saurabh Rajput (20), a Class XI student; Sumit Balmiki (24), who worked in a private firm; and Ashish Rajput (22), owner of a mobile shop — were all residents of the Dube locality in Bisalpur and were out on a recreational trip on a single motorcycle when the accident took place.
Police said the impact of the collision was severe. Saurabh and Sumit were declared dead on arrival after being taken to the local community health centre, while Ashish was referred to the Autonomous State Medical College in Pilibhit and later shifted to a higher medical facility in Bareilly, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.
Locals caught the tractor driver after the accident and handed him over to police. The tractor-trolley has been impounded, and the bodies were sent for postmortem examination.
Bisalpur SHO Sanjiv Shukla said, “We are waiting for a written complaint to lodge an FIR in the matter.”
