Aligarh: A 60-year-old man died after a dispute between children playing in a neighborhood escalated into a violent clash between two families in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district. The victim was fatally struck on the head with a brick allegedly hurled from the rooftop of a house.
The incident occurred around 8 pm on Sunday in Maulana Azad Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Quarsi police station. The altercation began when the grandson of victim Gulbahar Khan got into a fight with other children while playing in the neighborhood.
When the child was allegedly assaulted during the fight, his mother, Salma, intervened. The family alleged that members of the opposing side scuffled with Salma and slapped her. Following this, Gulbahar and his relatives went to the neighbor’s house to lodge a complaint, which quickly escalated into a heated argument.
During the confrontation, one of the accused climbed onto a rooftop and threw a brick at the group below. The brick struck Gulbahar on the head, causing him to collapse with critical injuries. He was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), where doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Police have detained four individuals from the accused’s side for questioning. Based on a formal complaint filed by Gulbahar’s son
Gulzar, an FIR has been registered at Quarsi police station under BNS Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and other relevant sections.
DSP Sarvam Singh said a thorough investigation is underway.
