NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting progresses across four states
Across Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala, counting is well underway with leads taking shape in each of the four assemblies. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA has won 20 seats and is leading in 77 more, giving it a tally of 97 seats, already past the majority mark if those leads hold. The Congress-led grouping has a tally of 21, all from leads, while candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively account for a tally of 8. In Tamil Nadu, the 234-seat assembly requires 118 for a majority. SPA has won 7 seats and is leading in 50, for a tally of 57, while NDA is leading in 55 with no seats won yet, giving it a tally of 55. Candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively hold a tally of 118, touching the majority mark on combined leads and wins. West Bengal, with a majority mark of 148 in its 294-seat house, sees BJP leading firmly with 8 seats won and 192 leads, a tally of 200 that crosses the majority threshold if those leads hold. TMC has won 1 seat and is leading in 83, for a tally of 84, while candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively account for a tally of 9. In Kerala, where 71 seats decide a majority across 140, UDF has won 51 seats and is leading in 36 more, putting its tally at 87 and past the majority mark. LDF has won 27 and is leading in 9, for a tally of 36, while candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively hold a tally of 17.
