NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting progresses across four states
Votes are being counted across four state assemblies, with leads shifting as rounds progress. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 seats outright and leading in 69 more, putting it well past the majority mark on current trends. The Congress-led alliance is trailing with a tally of 22, all in leads. Independent and other party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, where the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat assembly, no alliance has crossed that threshold yet. SPA holds a tally of 60, with 7 seats won and 53 leads. NDA has a tally of 55, all in leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 115, with 10 seats won and 105 leads, and need 3 more to reach the majority mark if those leads hold. West Bengal, with a majority mark of 148 across 294 seats, sees BJP leading in enough seats to cross that mark on current tallies. BJP has won 11 seats and is leading in 168 more for a tally of 179. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won seats and 104 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 8 seats in West Bengal. In Kerala, UDF has won 68 of the 71 seats needed for a majority in the 140-seat house and is leading in 19 more, giving it a tally of 87. LDF is trailing with 30 seats won and 6 leads for a tally of 36. Independent and other party candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 17 in Kerala.
