NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting rolls across four states
Votes are being counted across Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala, with leads shifting as rounds progress. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, comfortably crossing the majority mark on current trends. The Congress-led combine has a tally of 22, all leads, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 across 234 seats. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leading. NDA trails with a tally of 55, all leads, and still needs 63 more to reach the majority mark. In West Bengal, BJP leads the 294-seat count with a tally of 179, having won 11 and leading in 168, crossing the majority mark of 148 on current figures. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leading. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 8 seats in the state. Kerala's 140-seat assembly requires 71 for a majority. UDF holds a tally of 87, with 68 seats already won and leading in 19 more, crossing the majority mark if those leads hold. LDF is trailing with a tally of 36, having won 30 and leading in 6.
