NDA, BJP, UDF lead in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala as counting progresses
Counting is underway across four states, with leads shifting as rounds progress. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, which puts it well past the majority mark if those leads hold. The Congress-led alliance is trailing with a tally of 22, all in leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, where the majority mark stands at 118 across 234 seats, candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead with a tally of 115, having won 10 and leading in 105, sitting just 3 seats short of the majority mark. SPA trails with a tally of 60, winning 7 and leading in 53. NDA has a tally of 55, all in leads. West Bengal, with its 294-seat house requiring 148 for a majority, sees BJP leading in enough seats to cross that mark if the leads hold. BJP has a tally of 179, with 11 won and 168 leading. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, having won 2 and leading in 104. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Kerala, where 71 seats secure a majority in the 140-seat assembly, UDF is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark if those leads hold, with a tally of 87 built on 68 declared wins and 19 leads. LDF trails with a tally of 36, comprising 30 wins and 6 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 17 in Kerala.
