NDA, BJP, UDF lead in Assam, West Bengal and Kerala counts
Counting is underway across four states, Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala, with leads shaping up across the 794 combined assembly seats at stake. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, taking its tally to 97, which already crosses the majority mark if those leads hold. The Congress-led combine is leading in 22 seats with no wins declared yet, giving it a tally of 22. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in the state. In Tamil Nadu, where the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat assembly, SPA has won 7 seats and is leading in 53, for a tally of 60, while NDA is leading in 55 seats with no wins declared, putting its tally at 55. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in enough seats to take their tally to 115, still 3 short of the majority mark. In West Bengal, BJP has won 11 seats and is leading in 168 more, giving it a tally of 179 that crosses the 148-seat majority mark if those leads hold. TMC has won 2 seats and is leading in 104, for a tally of 106. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in the 294-seat house. In Kerala, UDF has won 68 seats and is leading in 19 more, taking its tally to 87, well past the 71-seat majority mark in the 140-seat assembly. LDF has won 30 seats and is leading in 6, for a tally of 36. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 17 in the state.
