NDA, BJP and UDF lead across four state assembly counts
Counting is underway across four states, Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala, with leads shifting as rounds progress. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, comfortably crossing the majority mark on current trends. The Congress-led alliance has a tally of 22, all leads with no seats declared, while candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 7 seats in the state. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat house. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leading. NDA trails with a tally of 55, all leads. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 115 seats in Tamil Nadu, still 3 short of the majority mark on current counts. West Bengal, with a majority mark of 148 across 294 seats, sees BJP leading in enough seats to cross that threshold if current trends hold, carrying a tally of 179 with 11 won and 168 leading. TMC trails with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leading, while candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 8 seats in the state. In Kerala, where 71 seats decide the majority in the 140-seat assembly, UDF is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark, with a tally of 87 that includes 68 declared wins and 19 ongoing leads. LDF trails with a tally of 36, made up of 30 won and 6 leading. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 17 seats in Kerala.
