NDA, BJP, UDF lead as counting advances across four states
Votes are being counted across four state assemblies and the picture is taking shape at different paces in each. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, giving it a tally of 97. The Congress-led alliance is leading in 22 seats with no wins declared yet, and its tally stands at 22. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in the state. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark is 118 in a 234-seat assembly. SPA has won 7 seats and is leading in 53, putting its tally at 60, while NDA is leading in 55 with no seats declared, giving it a tally of 55. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in enough seats to place their tally at 115, still 3 short of the majority mark. In West Bengal, BJP holds the highest tally of 179 across the 294-seat house, with 11 seats won and leads in 168 more. The majority mark there is 148, and BJP's tally has already crossed that threshold if those leads hold. TMC has won 2 seats and is leading in 104, placing its tally at 106. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in the state. In Kerala, UDF leads the count in the 140-seat assembly where 71 seats are needed for a majority. UDF has won 68 seats and is leading in 19 more for a tally of 87, which has crossed the majority mark if those leads hold. LDF has won 30 and is leading in 6, giving it a tally of 36. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 17 in Kerala.
