NDA leads in Assam and Puducherry, BJP ahead in West Bengal
Counting is underway across Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry, with leads shifting as rounds progress. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA has won 28 seats and is leading in 69 more, taking its tally to 97, which already crosses the majority mark if those leads hold. Congress and its allies are leading in 22 seats with no wins declared yet, giving them a tally of 22. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in the 234-seat house. SPA has won 7 seats and is leading in 53, for a tally of 60, while NDA is leading in 55 with no seats declared, putting its tally at 55. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 105 seats with 10 declared, giving them a tally of 115, just 3 short of the majority mark. In West Bengal, BJP has won 11 seats and is leading in 168, taking its tally to 179 against a majority mark of 148, meaning it is leading in enough seats to cross that threshold if those leads hold. TMC has won 2 and is leading in 104, for a tally of 106. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Puducherry, where 16 seats decide the majority in the 30-seat assembly, NDA has won 13 and is leading in 5 more, giving it a tally of 18, which crosses the majority mark if those leads hold. SPA has won 2 and is leading in 3, for a tally of 5. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Puducherry.
