Renu Desai is a former model and actress who worked in Telugu and Marathi film industry. She has also worked as costume designer for few films such as Kushi, Johnny, Gudumba Shankar, Balu etc. Prior to her entry into Telugu films, she worked as a model and appeared in the music video of Shankar Mahadevan's song "Breathless". In 2013, Desai turned producer with Mangalashtak Once More and turned director with Ishq Wala Love in 2014.

Desai was born in Pune, Maharashtra, into a Gujarathi Brahmin family. She got married to Tollywood actor Pawan Kalyan in 2009 and the couple have two kids - Akira Nandan Konidela (born 2004) and Aadhya Konidela (born 2010). Desai parted ways with her former husband Pawan Kalyan in 2012.
