South actress and ex-wife of South star Pawan Kalyan,
Renu Desai's foray into Marathi cinema as a producer, has run into troubled waters. It was earlier reported that Renu was producing a project titled Mangalashtake Once More. Sources say that her high handed attitude has led to some of the unit members quitting the project.
Among the ones who have dropped out are assistant director Tejas Kulkarni and executive producer Shrirang Paripatyadar.
When we contacted Tejas, he said, 'I quit as I had some disputes at the creative level. My working methods are totally different compared to Renu's and at one point, I felt that I could not continue.'
Rumour mills are abuzz with the news that the film's shooting has suddenly been stalled due to similar reasons. On condition of anonymity, a crew member shares, 'We were abruptly told on June 18 that the shoot will not happen for a day. The next day we got a call informing us that the shoot has been postponed for another 5-6 days.
It's July already and the shoot hasn't resumed yet.' The source alleges that Renu's aggressive nature has led to this. 'A day before the shoot came to a halt, Renu had a major tiff with cameraman Pooja Gupte, who left the premises fuming. Renu would generally be in an irritable mood on the sets and would keep criticising everyone's work all the time and also use expletives liberally,' the source adds. Pooja refused to comment on the issue stating that she is under contract and is busy attending an ailing relative.
Explaining her stand, Renu says, 'Coming from the South industry, I have a different approach towards filmmaking. I am concerned about every small detail. Marathi industry does not work in that manner. Undoubtedly, people here are talented and hard-working, but barring a few, most lack professionalism. I have only been harsh with people in my unit who lack professionalism and had to sack a few after repeatedly asking them to improve.'
