Perplexity has now announced that its Personal Computer experience is now available to all Mac users, following an initial rollout to early access testers. This launch by the company marks for a significant expansion of its AI-powered platform. “Personal Computer is now available in the new Perplexity Mac app.
Personal Computer brings Perplexity Computer to the Mac. It operates on a Mac or Mac mini, running tasks across your local files, native Mac apps, the web, and Perplexity’s secure servers,” said the company.
What Personal Computer offers
The Personal Computer is Perplexity’s desktop-native experience which is designed to offer faster and more contextual AI assistance directly on macOS. It enable the users to:
- Access real-time answers without switching between apps.
- Use AI-powered search and writing tools directly within their desktop environment.
- Benefit from contextual memory, enabling continuity across tasks.
- Integrate with productivity apps for smoother workflows.
Perplexity aims to make the assistant feel less like a separate toll and more like a natural extension of the Mac. Paired with the Comet browser, it operates web-based tools without direct connectors. Local or remote, it takes agentic operations anywhere they’re needed.
“Running Personal Computer on a Mac mini creates the best experience. Teams of agents can run continuously and autonomously from a central always-on device. The continuity of the Apple ecosystem gives you freedom to control Personal Computer from anywhere. Initiate a task from your iPhone that uses local files and native apps on your Mac. Approve a human-in-the-loop request from any of your devices,” added the company.
The Personal Computer app is now available for download on macOS, opening access to all users rather than just early testers. Perplexity says it will continue to refine the experience with updates based on user feedback.
