Recalling one of his earlier posts, he wrote on X, "Some years ago, I had posted a story about Harbhajan Kaur of Chandigarh, who at 90 years of age, had started a thriving business selling delicious, homemade Barfis. I had said she was my choice for ‘Entrepreneur of the Year.’He further wrote in a surprising tone, "I’m delighted to see her case was not an isolated one."Inspired by the journey of a 98-year-old mother who runs a dhokla and bhakri business, he expressed, "I will find daily inspiration from these powerful & profound words of another incredible entrepreneur, Prabhavati Nani of Ahmedabad: “Age is just a number.
You can start any day and change the script of your life.” Calling it the perfect Monday motivation, he concluded, "Advice that applies to both the old and the young…"


Who is Prabhavati Nani

Prabhavati Nani also known as Prabhavati Bhagwati is a resident of Ahmedabad, who lived a happy married life with her husband for over seven decades and shared morning teas and meals. But in 2017, when he passed away, the rhythm of her life stopped and the house felt too big; the kitchen, which used to be her favourite place felt cold. Her kids were grown, the grandkids were busy, and Prabhavati found herself facing the kind of solitude that usually signals a winding down.

How did Nani's Nashta happen

It all started at a small gathering of friends, where she brought along her khandvi. People loved it and later someone asked her for a batch for their own family event. And then in 2018, Nani's Nashta happened, and it also became popular through word-of-mouth and the WhatsApp grapevine. Today, she sells khandvi, dhokla, bhakri, pav bhaji, vada pav and more. Presently, she caters to over 200 families a week.

What does her story teach us

According to Anand Mahindra, Prabhavati's journey is an example that it is never too late to start. It is important to identify your passion and be sincere and honest to it. Work on your passion every day, and slowly things will fall into place. Also, life will keep throwing hardships at us; it is up to us how we overcome them, make the best of it with limited resources and shine through. Her story also teaches that it is important to be honest to your craft. Had she not been consistent and authentic with her offerings, sustaining such food business wouldn't have been easy.
