In Uthiramerur, Munirathinam J of TVK secured a comfortable victory, polling 84,917 votes. He defeated DMK’s Sundar K by a margin of 14,223 votes. PMK’s Mageshkumar P finished third with 62,809 votes, as the constituency delivered a clear mandate in favour of TVK.
The Uthiramerur constituency witnessed a high-stakes showdown with the DMK re-nominating the seasoned incumbent K Sundar, who sought his fifth victory in this segment. He faced a spirited challenge from P Mageshkumar of the PMK (contesting as part of the AIADMK-led alliance) and J Munirathinam of the TVK, who aimed to disrupt the long-standing DMK-AIADMK rivalry by appealing to the agricultural and youth electorate.
The NTK further widened the contest by fielding Maram Maasilamani.
The 2021 election saw K Sundar (DMK) secure a narrow victory with 93,427 votes (44.6% vote share), defeating V. Somasundaram (AIADMK), who polled 91,805 votes. The victory margin was a razor-thin 1,622 votes. In the 2016 election, the seat was also won by K Sundar (DMK), who polled 85,513 votes, defeating the AIADMK’s P Ganesan by 12,156 votes.
The voter turnout this year was 91.08%, matching the high engagement seen across the state and a major hike from the 80.1% recorded in 2021.

The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections were held in a single phase on April 23, recording a high voter turnout of 85.15%, with results declared on May 4.
