Pulak Roy of the All India Trinamool Congress defeated Swami Mangalananda Puri of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uluberia Dakshin, winning by a margin of 17,187 votes after all 19 rounds of counting.Uluberia Dakshin in Howrah district has been represented by Pulak Roy of the All India Trinamool Congress in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. He won the 2021 assembly election with 1,01,880 votes, defeating BJP’s Papia Dey (Adhikary), who secured 73,442 votes, giving him a victory margin of 28,438 votes. Key issues include chronic drainage and waterlogging in low-lying wards, pressure on road infrastructure due to rapid peri‑urban growth, and gaps in solid waste management as the area urbanises along the Howrah–Kolkata corridor. Many residents depend on small trading, transport and informal sector jobs linked to Uluberia town and the wider industrial belt, making employment security and regulation of unorganised work central concerns. The seat has a long history of Left influence through the Forward Bloc, but since 2011, it has become a Trinamool stronghold, with Pulak Roy having already won three consecutive terms (2011, 2016, 2021), underscoring stable incumbent dominance. Uluberia Dakshin falls under the Uluberia Lok Sabha constituency, where TMC’s Sajda Ahmed retained the parliamentary seat in 2024, reinforcing the party’s organisational depth across this cluster of assembly segments.
