Thousand Lights has delivered a clear result, with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s J C D Prabhakar winning the seat by a solid margin. With counting complete (18/18 rounds), Prabhakar secured 58,965 votes, defeating DMK’s Dr Ezhilan Naganathan, who polled 43,824 votes. AIADMK’s B Valarmathi finished third with 23,320 votes.
The 2021 election saw Dr Ezhilan Naganathan (DMK) secure a comfortable win with 71,867 votes (52.9% vote share), defeating the high-profile BJP candidate Khushbu Sundar, who contested as part of the AIADMK alliance and polled 39,405 votes. The victory margin was 32,462 votes. In the 2016 election, the seat was won by Ku. Ka. Selvam (DMK), who polled 61,726 votes, defeating the AIADMK’s B.
Valarmathi by 8,829 votes.
The voter turnout this year was 82.76%, which is a major jump in comparison to 56.05% of the 2021 elections.
