Partha Ghosh of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the Raniganj Assembly Constituency No. 278, defeating Kalobaran Mondal of the All India Trinamool Congress.Raniganj is an assembly constituency located in the Paschim Bardhaman district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency.At present, Tapas Banerjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Raniganj. He won the seat in the 2021 assembly election by securing 42.9% of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Dr Bijan Mukherjee, who received 40.95% of the votes.Earlier, the constituency was won by Runu Dutta of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) in 2016. In 2011, Ali Sohrab of AITC had secured victory in the seat.
