Madurai North, a key urban constituency in Madurai city with a diverse population and strong trading community presence, saw a closely watched contest between major parties. A. Kallanai of TVK, G. Thalapathi of

AIADMK were in the fray. TVK candidate A. Kallanai has emerged victorious in the constituency.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, DMK’s G Thalapathi won with 73,010 votes, defeating BJP’s P Saravanan, who secured 50,094 votes. The margin was 22,916 votes. In the 2016 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s VV Rajan Chellappa won with 70,437 votes, defeating DMK’s MV Muthuramalingam, who received 51,598 votes.
The margin was 18,839 votes.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s AK Bose won with 85,053 votes, defeating INC’s KSK Rajendran, who secured 38,653 votes. The margin was 46,400 votes.The 234-seat Assembly election in Tamil Nadu will see the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by Chief Minister M K Stalin, take on the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and a resurgent BJP-led alliance.
