Kumbakonam election results 2026: TVK’s Vinoth wins by just 679 votes, edges DMK in nail-biting finish

In a dramatic finish in Kumbakonam (Assembly Constituency 171), Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate Vinoth secured victory in one of the closest contests of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2026. Vinoth polled 78,650 votes, winning by a razor-thin margin of just 679 votes after all 23 rounds of EVM counting. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate Anbalagan G gave a fierce fight, finishing second with 77,971 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ashokkumar R ended a distant third with 40,103 votes, well behind the two-front contest at the top.
