Embalam election result 2026: AINRC’s E Mohandoss wins Embalam, defeats Congress’s M Candassamy

AINRC’s E Mohandoss won from Embalam constituency in Puducherry, defeating Congress’s M Candassamy by a margin of 4,061 votes.Embalam is a reserved Scheduled Caste (SC) constituency located on the western outskirts of Puducherry. The electorate here is largely made up of farming families, agricultural labourers, and working-class households, where welfare schemes and grassroots outreach play a crucial role in influencing voter sentiment. In the April 9 assembly elections, the constituency saw a three-way contest. E Mohamadoss (AINRC) represented the NDA, M Kandaswamy (Congress) contested for the SPA alliance, and V Tamilselvan entered the fray from the TVK.Electoral trends in Embalam have shown notable shifts over the years. In 2016, Congress leader Kandaswamy secured a dominant victory with a margin of over 11,200 votes. However, in 2021, AINRC’s U Lakshminandhan reversed this trend, winning by 2,240 votes in a closely watched contest. Voter participation has remained consistently strong, with nearly 30,530 of the 33,340 registered voters casting their votes in 2021, reflecting high political engagement in the constituency.In 2026, turnout reached an impressive 91.23% by 7 pm, surpassing the 87.37% recorded in 2021. Voting through EVMs accounted for 89.87%, while approximately 12,000 postal ballots were received, making up 1.36% of the electorate.
