Durgapur Purba election results 2026: Chandra Sekhar Banerjee of BJP wins against Pradip Mazumdar of AITC

Chandra Sekhar Banerjee of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the Durgapur Purba Assembly Constituency No. 276, defeating Pradip Mazumdar of the All India Trinamool Congress.Durgapur Purba is a General category assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district. It is one of the seven assembly segments that fall under the Bardhaman–Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency.Pradip Mazumdar of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Durgapur Purba. He won the seat in the 2021 assembly election by securing 41.16% of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Diptansu Chaudhury, who received 39.21% of the votes.In the recent assembly polls, Trinamool retained Mazumdar as its candidate. He was challenged by Chandra Shekher Banerjee of the BJP.Earlier, the constituency was won by Santosh Debray of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 2016. In 2011, Nikhil Kumar Banerjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) had secured victory in the seat.
