NEW DELHI: Lunsing Teron of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the Howraghat (ST) constituency with 1,06,229 votes, defeating Congress candidate Sanjeeb Teron by a margin of 78,106 votes. Sanjeeb Teron secured 28,123 votes. Independent candidate Sarkiri Rongphar finished third with 14,659 votes.Seven candidates contested from Howraghat in Assam's 2026 Assembly Election, along with NOTA.There were a total of 1,89,616 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2026 Assembly election in Howraghat Assembly constituency, of whom 93,420 were male, 96,191 female and 5 belonged to the third gender.

Howraghat was won by Dorsing Ronghang of the BJP in 2021, who secured 57,927 votes. The runner-up was Sanjeeb Teron of Congress, who received 26,244 votes, giving Ronghang a winning margin of 31,683 votes.The Assam Assembly elections were held in a single phase on April 9, 2026, with vote counting on May 4.This year, assembly elections took place in four states and a Union Territory. Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry went to polls on April 9, while Tamil Nadu voted on April 23. West Bengal held elections in two phases, on April 23 and April 29.
