Bidhannagar is a fully urban constituency centred on Salt Lake City, a planned township in North 24 Parganas, part of the Dum Dum Lok Sabha seat. The constituency has a highly educated, middle-class electorate. In 2026, sitting TMC MLA Sujit Bose contests again against BJP's Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay.
In 2021, TMC's Sujit Bose won with 75,912 votes, defeating BJP's Sabyasachi Dutta by just 7,997 votes — a relatively narrow margin for a state-level contest.
In 2016, TMC's Sujit Bose also won with 66,130 votes, defeating Congress's Arunava Ghosh by 6,988 votes. The constituency has consistently been competitive, with BJP performing strongly here in Lok Sabha elections.
