NEW DELHI: BJP's Ashok Kirtania won against Biswajit Das of TMC from Bangaon Uttar.Bangaon Uttar is a Scheduled Caste-reserved constituency in North 24 Parganas district, located in the Bangaon subdivision. The seat has a largely rural character and the Matua community forms a significant part of the electorate, making it particularly sensitive to issues of refugee rehabilitation and citizenship. In 2026, sitting MLA Biswajit Das of TMC faces BJP's Ashok Kirtania.In 2021, BJP's Ashok Kirtania won the seat with 97,761 votes, defeating TMC's Shyamal Roy by 10,488 votes. In 2016, TMC's Biswajit Das retained the seat with 95,822 votes, defeating the All India Forward Bloc by 33,192 votes. In 2011, Biswajit Das had also won for TMC with 89,265 votes.
