In West Bengal's Khargram, Bharatiya Janata Party's Mitali Mal secured her win with 77,748 votes. TMC's Ashish Marjit lost with 68,415 votes, trailing behind Mal by 9,333 votes.TMC's Ashish Marjit is in contest with BJP's Mitali Mal for the constituency of Khargram in the 2026 assembly elections.There were a total of 2,30,464 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2026 Assembly election in Khargram Assembly constituency, of whom 1,20,073 were male, 1,10,389 female and 2 belonged to the third gender.West Bengal voted across 294 seats in two phases on April 23 and April 29, recording a combined turnout of nearly 93 per cent — the highest since Independence and one of the largest in Indian electoral history.

Notably, the surge was not limited to rural strongholds but saw a dramatic rise in urban centres, with women voters outpacing men to drive the record participation.Khargram is one of the 294 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, located in Murshidabad district and forming part of the Jangipur Lok Sabha seat. Reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates, the constituency has shown continuity in leadership alongside shifts in party affiliation over recent elections.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, Khargram had 228,923 registered electors, of whom 185,936 cast valid votes. The seat was won by Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Ashis Marjit, who secured 93,255 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Aditya Moulik finished second with 60,682 votes, trailing by a margin of 32,573 votes.In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had an electorate of 204,103, with 161,860 valid votes recorded, reflecting a turnout of 79.36 per cent. Indian National Congress candidate Ashis Marjit won the seat with 88,913 votes. TMC candidate Madhab Chandra Marjit came second with 55,740 votes, losing by a margin of 33,173 votes.The electoral outcomes highlight a political transition in Khargram, with Ashis Marjit retaining the seat across two elections while shifting from Congress representation in 2016 to the TMC in 2021.
