Vizianagaram police rescue 156 cattle, nab 25
Vizianagaram: The Vizianagaram district police rescued 156 cattle (bulls, buffalos and cows) so far this year during the drives against illegal transportation of cattle.Vizianagaram district police chief AR Damodhar said their teams seized 12 vehicles involved in illegal cattle transportation and arrested 25 persons and rescued 156 cattle this year.The police have been strictly enforcing the existing laws to curb illegal transportation and slaughter of cattle. We have intensified checks along cattle smuggling routes, particularly in border areas to prevent illegal transportation of cattle. The police decided to use drones and CCTV cameras at strategic locations to further prevent illegal cattle transportation and will initiate stringent action against those involved in the illegal trade, Damodhar added.Leaders and activists of various organizations alleged illegal transportation of cattle is common in a few parts of the north coastal AP comprising --Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Manyam districts. Some gangs from neighboring Telangana, Odisha and Karnataka are involved in the illegal transportation of the cattle.
