JALANDHAR: Former India off-spinner and current Rajya Sabha member
Harbhajan Singh, who crossed over from
Aam Aadmi Party to
BJP along with five other RS members from Punjab, spun a doosra at AAP on Friday, alleging that an RS seat from Punjab was ‘sold'.
Harbhajan, who has already restricted who can respond to his posts, was reacting to an X user's taunt on why he hadn't resigned from the RS seat ‘given' to him and what was his compulsion to join BJP. "What price did you put on your conscience? I have heard that BJP has bid 25-25 crore for traitors — is it true?" the X user asked.
Harbhajan shot back: "When the time comes, every statement of yours will be answered. And I did not abuse any of your leaders. Why would I dirty my own tongue? And to those calling me a traitor, first ask your own people at what price the Rajya Sabha seat of Punjab was sold. If they don't tell you, I will tell you who received how much offering and from whose side.
And how people were made ministers and officials to loot Punjab and deliver goods to the ‘Lala'. They have looted and finished Punjab."
Earlier, in an apparent dig at AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal following a dig from an AAP supporter, Harbhajan had remarked: "...I
wish your leader had 1% affection with Punjab...."
Harbhajan's reply was immediately lapped up by Congress functionaries, who urged him to make more ‘disclosures'.
"Harbhajan Singh's statement has exposed the ugly truth. The people of Punjab deserve answers from Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann," said Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa. Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira dared Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann to accept Harbhajan's challenge. Congress MLA Pargat Singh demanded clarifications from both AAP and BJP. They alleged that people of Punjab "already knew that RS seats were sold".
