Krishna collector cracks the whip on census negligence, suspends 10 resource persons
Vijayawada: Ten resource persons (RPs) engaged in census duties in Tadigadapa municipality were suspended by Krishna district collector DK Balaji after they were allegedly found absent from duty and negligent in performing their responsibilities.According to officials, a total of 30 resource persons were appointed to carry out census-related activities in the municipality. During a review of the ongoing work, the collector reportedly identified serious lapses in the functioning of 10 personnel, prompting immediate action.Expressing dissatisfaction over their performance, the collector ordered their suspension and directed the project director of Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Arreas (MEPMA) to conduct a detailed inquiry into the issue. Officials said the investigation would examine the extent of negligence and whether the absenteeism affected the progress and accuracy of census work. Authorities indicated that further disciplinary action could be initiated if additional irregularities come to light during the inquiry.The incident has drawn attention within administrative circles as the census exercise is considered a key govt program that plays an important role in welfare planning, development activities, and resource allocation. The collector instructed officials and field-level staff to discharge their duties responsibly and warned that negligence in govt assignments, especially major exercises like the census, would be dealt with seriously.
