Vijayawada: Senior BJP leader and Twenty Point Programme Implementation (Viksit Bharat-Swarna Andhra Pradesh) chairman, Lanka Dinakar, has said the BJP's victories in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry assembly elections reflect strong public endorsement of prime minister Narendra Modi's leadership and the double-engine governance model.
Addressing the media at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, Dinakar said women voters played a decisive role in the BJP's success, turning out in large numbers and backing the party in the spirit of Nari Shakti. He noted that the results send a clear message against parties that opposed one-third reservation for women, adding that women across the country see genuine empowerment under Modi's leadership.
Dinakar attributed the victories to the trust reposed in Narendra Modi, the strategic leadership of Union home minister Amit Shah and the coordinated efforts of party workers. He said the BJP secured a historic mandate, winning 207 seats in West Bengal, 102 in Assam and 18 in Puducherry, paving the way for NDA govts. He also commended the Election Commission and security forces for ensuring peaceful polling, particularly in West Bengal, allowing voters to exercise their franchise freely.
Democracy, he said, has prevailed over inducements and undue influence.
Highlighting the party's electoral momentum since the 2024 parliamentary elections, Dinakar said the BJP continues to strengthen its position across states. He described the Assam victory as a hat trick and termed the West Bengal result as a historic first.
He said the results reflect widespread support for development and welfare initiatives, including "Purvodaya" and improved connectivity in eastern and northeastern regions. He added that the NDA govt in West Bengal would act firmly against illegal infiltration and reaffirmed that the country is moving steadily towards the goal of Viksit Bharat.
