Road accident victim’s body exhumed in Azamgarh for postmortem
Varanasi: The body of a 50-year-old man, who died after being hit by a Thar vehicle in the Fariha market area under Nizamabad police station of Azamgarh district, was exhumed on Sunday for postmortem.Azamgarh SP Anil Kumar said on Monday that the victim, Shamshad alias Guddu, was initially buried without an autopsy, following a mutual settlement between his family and the owner of the vehicle involved in the accident. However, after the matter came to the notice of senior officials, orders were issued to exhume the body and complete all legal procedures, including a postmortem. An FIR has also been registered in the case, he added.According to police, the incident took place around 7 am on Friday when a speeding, number plate-less Thar vehicle rammed into Shamshad, a resident of the Fariha area, as he was travelling on his motorcycle. He sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital with the help of locals and police, from where doctors referred him to the district hospital due to his critical condition. However, he died on the way.Following the accident, the families of the deceased and the vehicle owner reportedly reached a settlement, after which no complaint was filed and the body was buried in the village graveyard.
