PBKS vs DC Highlights, IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals edge Punjab Kings by three wickets in Dharamshala thriller

PBKS vs DC Highlights, IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals kept their IPL 2026 campaign alive with a thrilling three-wicket win over Punjab Kings in Dharamsala on Monday, successfully chasing down 211 in what became the highest successful run chase at the HPCA Stadium.

The chase was powered by a superb counterattacking partnership between captain Axar Patel and David Miller after Delhi had found themselves under severe pressure early in the innings. Axar smashed 56 off just 30 balls while Miller struck 51 from 28 deliveries as the duo shifted momentum dramatically in DC’s favour.

Punjab Kings had looked in control after reducing Delhi to 47/3 inside the powerplay. Yash Thakur bowled Abishek Porel with a delivery that jagged back sharply, while Arshdeep Singh dismissed KL Rahul and youngster Sahil Parakh. The run-out of Tristan Stubbs further pushed Delhi into trouble at 74/4.

However, Axar and Miller launched a fearless assault against both pace and spin, stitching together a match-turning 64-run stand in only 34 balls. Their aggressive approach completely changed the momentum before finishing touches from Ashutosh Sharma and Madhav Tiwari guided Delhi home with six balls remaining.

Earlier, PBKS rode on another explosive innings from Priyansh Arya, who hammered 56 off 33 balls with six towering sixes. He attacked from the first over itself, taking Mitchell Starc apart in a 22-run opening over. But once Delhi adjusted their lengths and bowled shorter into the surface, PBKS lost momentum.

Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 59 while Cooper Connolly scored 38, though Punjab could not fully capitalise on their flying start. The defeat marked PBKS’ fourth consecutive loss after an unbeaten start to the season.

IPL 2026, PBKS VS DC: Dharamsala Witnesses One of IPL 2026’s Wildest Chases
The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium has hosted dramatic IPL nights before, but Monday’s thriller between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals produced something historic.

Delhi chased down 211 with an over to spare — the first successful 200-plus chase ever recorded in Dharamsala in IPL history.

The game swung wildly throughout the evening.

Punjab started ferociously as Priyansh Arya smashed 56 off 33 balls and combined with Prabhsimran Singh for a rapid opening stand. Captain Shreyas Iyer then anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten 59 to push Punjab beyond 200.

Delhi’s reply quickly fell apart at 33/3 and later 74/4. Yet the pitch, which offered movement for pacers all evening, also rewarded brave strokeplay once batters settled.

That is exactly what Axar Patel and David Miller provided.

The pair rebuilt the innings brilliantly before Ashutosh Sharma, Madhav Tiwari and Auqib Nabi completed the stunning chase.

The match also produced another statistical rarity — 39 overs of pace bowling, the second-most by seamers in an IPL game.

For Punjab, it was another painful collapse. For Delhi, it was survival. For everyone watching, it was one of the season’s unforgettable nights.

IPL 2026, PBKS VS DC: Axar Patel Leads From the Front When Delhi Needed Him Most
Leadership in T20 cricket often reveals itself in chaos. On Monday night in Dharamsala, Axar Patel delivered his strongest statement yet as captain of Delhi Capitals.

Delhi were staring at elimination when they crashed to 74/4 chasing Punjab Kings’ daunting 210. The top order had failed, the required rate was climbing and Punjab seemed firmly in control.

Axar responded with controlled aggression.

His 56 off just 30 balls completely shifted the momentum of the contest. Instead of panicking, Axar attacked lengths early, targeted the shorter boundary and forced Punjab’s bowlers onto the defensive.

“Whenever the key phases of the game came, we were ending up on the wrong side,” Axar admitted afterward. “But today the team played really well.”

The Delhi skipper also showed tactical clarity with the ball. Recognising the seam movement available under lights, Axar trusted his pacers instead of turning to himself. Youngsters Madhav Tiwari and Auqib Nabi repaid that faith.

Axar praised the team’s emerging talent after the match.

“When young players stand up like this under pressure, it’s a very good sign for the team.”

For a side hanging by a thread in the playoff race, Axar’s innings may become the turning point of their season.

IPL 2026 PBKS VS DC: Punjab Kings’ Bowling Woes Return to Haunt Them Again
Punjab Kings have spent most of IPL 2026 thrilling fans with fearless batting. But on Monday night, their recurring weakness resurfaced at the worst possible time.

Despite posting a formidable 210/5 in Dharamsala, Punjab failed to defend the target against Delhi Capitals and slumped to a fourth straight defeat. The loss not only hurt their hopes of finishing in the top two but also deepened concerns around their bowling attack.

Captain Shreyas Iyer admitted after the game that Punjab were at least “30 runs above par” considering the assistance available for seamers.

“There was variable bounce and the ball was seaming,” Iyer said. “If we would have executed our line and length precisely, we could have extracted wickets.”

Execution, however, has been Punjab’s biggest issue this season.

The franchise has now conceded 200-plus totals seven times this season and holds the unwanted IPL record for most defeats while defending 200-plus targets. Dropped catches and inconsistent death bowling again proved costly.

While Priyansh Arya’s attacking 56 and Iyer’s unbeaten 59 looked enough to secure victory, Punjab lost control once Axar Patel and David Miller settled in.

With only a few league games left, Punjab suddenly find themselves under pressure to stop the slide before the playoffs begin.

IPL 2026 PBKS VS DC: David Miller Turns Back the Clock in Delhi’s Greatest Escape Act
For years, David Miller has built a reputation as one of T20 cricket’s finest finishers. On Monday night in Dharamsala, the veteran once again showed why.

When Delhi Capitals slipped to 74/4 while chasing 211 against Punjab Kings, the game appeared over. Punjab’s pacers were extracting movement, the crowd sensed collapse, and Delhi’s playoff hopes were fading quickly.

Then Miller arrived.

The South African combined beautifully with skipper Axar Patel, whose counterattacking 56 changed the momentum of the chase. Miller absorbed pressure early before accelerating perfectly, finishing with 51 off 28 balls.

“Axar has been working really hard this season,” Miller said. “Tonight he came out with great intent and showed the boys what it’s all about.”

Miller also explained the mindset behind his finishing role.

“It’s just about making sure that I stay really present. I can only control the next ball.”

Delhi eventually chased down 211 with an over remaining — the franchise’s second-highest successful chase in IPL history. Beyond the points table implications, the innings reminded everyone why Miller remains one of the most dependable players in franchise cricket.

IPL 2026 PBKS VS DC: Madhav Tiwari Announces Himself as Delhi Capitals Keep Playoff Dream Alive
Delhi Capitals may still be outsiders in the IPL playoff race, but Monday night in Dharamsala felt like the beginning of something bigger. Chasing 211 against Punjab Kings, Delhi looked buried at 74/4 before producing one of the boldest run chases of IPL 2026.

The story belonged to debutant Madhav Tiwari.

The youngster first delivered with the ball, claiming 2/40 on a pitch where seam movement made life difficult for bowlers and batters alike. But it was his composure during the chase that stood out most. Walking in during a tense finish, Madhav smashed an unbeaten 18 off eight balls and played without fear.

After the game, the all-rounder credited preparation and patience for his breakthrough night.

“The mindset is always that if things are not in your hand, you just try to be better in each and every practice session,” Madhav said.

Delhi’s chase was built on captain Axar Patel’s explosive 56 and David Miller’s calm 51. Yet it was the confidence shown by Delhi’s youngsters that impressed most.

Axar called it “a very good sign for the team” as Delhi survived another night in the playoff race.

IPL 2026 PBKS VS DC: PBKS unwanted record grows after another failed 200-plus defence
Punjab Kings added another unwanted record to their IPL history after failing to defend 210 against Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala on Monday.

The defeat marked the ninth time PBKS have lost a match despite posting a 200-plus total, the most by any team in IPL history. Their bowlers struggled badly under pressure as Delhi completed the highest successful chase at the HPCA Stadium to stay alive in the playoff race.

Most defeats while defending 200-plus targets in IPL:

PBKS – 9
RCB – 7
CSK – 6
KKR – 5

Punjab appeared in control after reducing Delhi to 74/4, but the game slipped away rapidly once Axar Patel and David Miller launched a brutal counterattack. While Arshdeep Singh impressed with disciplined figures of 2/21, the rest of the bowling attack leaked runs consistently on a batting-friendly Dharamsala surface.

The loss also extended PBKS’ poor run in the second half of the season. After going unbeaten during the early stages of IPL 2026, Shreyas Iyer’s side has now suffered four consecutive defeats, putting serious pressure on their playoff hopes heading into the final stretch of the league stage.

IPL 2026 PBKS VS DC: ‘We’ve been short of planning’ — Shreyas Iyer blunt after PBKS suffer fourth straight defeat
Shreyas Iyer did not hold back after Punjab Kings failed to defend 210 against Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala, admitting that poor planning, bowling and fielding continue to hurt his side during their worrying slump in IPL 2026.

Punjab Kings crashed to their fourth consecutive defeat despite posting a massive total on a surface where the PBKS skipper believed his side had enough runs on the board. Delhi eventually chased down 211 in just 19 overs through brilliant knocks from Axar Patel and David Miller.

“I won't beat around the bush; I'll just say fielding and bowling again,” Shreyas said after the defeat.

The PBKS captain felt the conditions actually favoured the bowlers more than the scorecard suggested, especially with the ball seaming around and variable bounce on offer throughout the game.

“Absolutely, I feel that it was 30 runs more on this wicket considering how the ball was seaming and there was variable bounce,” he added while assessing Punjab’s total of 210/5.

Shreyas also revealed there was a discussion about introducing Yuzvendra Chahal earlier into the attack, but the team decided to trust the seamers because of the assistance available from the pitch.

“There was absolutely a thought in my mind, but the way ball was seaming and the way it was helping seamers, I think if we would have executed our line and length precisely, we could have been able to extract wickets, but unfortunately again, we didn't,” he explained.

The PBKS skipper stressed that his bowlers failed to consistently hit the right areas, particularly against new batters.

“I always say that the hard length - short of a hard length - is the best ball, especially when a new batsman is coming in. It's not easy to hit because if you keep repeating those balls, at least one ball gives a chance of mis-hitting and you can get a wicket. We've been short of planning,” Shreyas admitted.

IPL 2026 PBKS VS DC: ‘We are a good team’ — Axar Patel praises DC youngsters after record chase vs PBKS
Axar Patel credited Delhi Capitals for finally winning the “crucial moments” after their thrilling three-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in Dharamsala kept their playoff hopes alive.

Delhi chased down 211 in 19 overs in the highest successful chase at the HPCA Stadium, with Axar leading from the front through a blistering 56 off 30 balls.

“Since last time I have been saying we are losing the crucial moments. We are a good team, playing a good cricket but not winning those crucial moments. Really happy with the way we played and hopefully we continue playing like this,” Axar said after the win.

The DC skipper highlighted how his side recovered brilliantly after conceding 60 runs in the opening four overs to Priyansh Arya and Punjab’s aggressive top order.

“The first 3-4 overs we went for 60 runs and we pulled things back. In the middle overs the way Madhav and Mukesh bowled were the winning moments,” he explained.

Axar also praised the lower middle order for holding their nerve after his dismissal during the chase.

“Even with the bat, after my dismissal the way Miller, Ashutosh and Madhav batted it was great,” he said.

The all-rounder revealed that the conditions heavily influenced his bowling strategy, with seam movement available throughout the innings.

“The ball was swinging and seaming, we didn't bowl in the right areas in the first 3-4 overs but it was doing something right through, that's why I didn't use spin,” Axar added.

Reflecting on his own promotion in the batting order, Axar admitted luck also played a role in his innings.

“You always have a back-up plan. I have been coming up the order but today it clicked. Luck changed, I was dropped and that also mattered.”

He finished by backing DC’s young players and squad depth for the future.

“The type of cricket we are playing and the bench strength we have, the future is in good hands. Youngsters standing up in such situations is a good sign.”

IPL 2026 PBKS VS DC: Madhav Tiwari shines in DC’s record chase
Madhav Tiwari delivered a breakthrough all-round performance for Delhi Capitals and was rewarded with the Player of the Match award after helping his side pull off a record chase against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala.

The youngster impressed with both bat and ball in Delhi’s thrilling three-wicket win while chasing 211, playing a key role in keeping the visitors alive in the IPL 2026 playoff race.

“First of all I would like to thank management for giving me this opportunity. I am really happy to be on the winning side,” Madhav said after the match.

The all-rounder revealed that he has spent significant time improving both aspects of his game while waiting patiently for opportunities.

“The mindset is always that if things are not in your hand, you work in the practice sessions, I have worked on my bowling a lot, I have worked on my ranging hitting,” he explained.

Madhav also confidently described himself as a complete all-rounder.

“I would like to say 100 percent bowler, 100 percent batter,” he added.

Bowling on a Dharamsala pitch that offered seam movement and variable bounce, Madhav used the conditions cleverly and mixed up his lengths effectively against PBKS batters.

“The wicket was helping the length ball. I was trying to mix it with wide ball and short ball,” he said.

The youngster admitted he was fully prepared to bowl his full quota after recognising early help for the fast bowlers.

“I was prepared, given the conditions it was supporting the fast bowlers, lucky enough to bowl four overs for the team.”

Madhav also credited Delhi’s batting coach Ricky Ponting’s assistant and former England batter Matthew Mott, popularly known as Belly in the dressing room, for helping him stay calm while batting under pressure.

“Our batting coach Belly said you got the power, you have the technique, don't try to overhit the ball,” Madhav revealed.

IPL 2026 PBKS VS DC: Delhi Capitals rewriting record books
Delhi Capitals are turning into one of the most dangerous chasing sides in IPL 2026. Their thrilling three-wicket win over Punjab Kings in Dharamsala added another entry to an already remarkable list of successful run chases this season.

Delhi’s chase of 211 against PBKS is now the second-highest successful chase in franchise history, only behind their stunning pursuit of 226 against Rajasthan Royals earlier this season in Jaipur. The Axar Patel-led side has now completed three 200-plus chases across the last two IPL seasons, underlining their aggressive batting approach and ability to handle pressure situations.

Highest successful chases for DC in IPL:

226 vs RR, Jaipur, 2026
211 vs PBKS, Dharamsala, 2026
210 vs LSG, Vizag, 2025
209 vs GL, Delhi, 2017
207 vs PBKS, Jaipur, 2025

The latest chase once again showcased Delhi’s depth and composure. Despite early setbacks, Axar Patel and David Miller counterattacked brilliantly before the lower order finished the job calmly. With their playoff hopes still alive, DC’s batting firepower is becoming one of the biggest talking points of IPL 2026.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - In his first game of the season, Madhav Tiwari wins the award for his all-round heroics. 2/40 with the ball and an unbeaten 18 off 8 in the chase. On getting the opportunity, Tiwari first credits the team management and feels lucky to have been on the winning side. On what keeps him sharp on the field, he puts it down to the hard work in practice sessions. He adds that he has worked a lot on his bowling and credits bowling coach Munaf Patel for that, while also adding that he has put in a lot of work on his range hitting, working with the batting coach. On whether he considers himself more a bowler or a batter, he confidently says that he is a 100 per cent batter and a 100 per cent bowler. On his bowling, Tiwari says the wicket was helping the length ball, and he tried to stick to it while mixing in wider balls and shorter ones. He adds he was prepared to bowl four overs, given the conditions were supporting the fast bowlers. Speaking about his batting, he says batting coach Ian Bell told him he has the power and everything he needs, and to just hold his shape and watch the ball, and not overhit it.

23:45 (IST) May 11

The captain of the Delhi Capitals - Axar Patel says that his team has let crucial moments slip through their fingers this season. He insists the side has played good cricket overall, but admits they have ended up on the wrong side in a couple of matches that could easily have gone either way. Axar believes that it is a long tournament and every day is not the same in the IPL. Hopes that they can put in good performances in the remaining games. Patel feels that they did well to pull things back after conceding nearly 60 runs in the first three overs. Believes the spells from Madhav Tiwari and Mukesh Kumar through the middle overs proved to be the turning point of the game. Axar also praises the batting effort after his dismissal, highlighting the contributions from David Miller, Ashutosh Sharma and Madhav in helping DC complete the chase. The DC skipper mentions that the ball was swinging and seaming throughout the innings, but DC did not bowl in the right areas during the opening overs despite the assistance on offer, which is why he stayed away from spin. Axar says teams always need a backup plan and mentions that although he has been batting higher up the order regularly, things clicked for him tonight. He also admits luck played a part after being dropped earlier in the innings. Patel finishes by saying the kind of cricket Delhi are playing and the bench strength they possess shows the future of the franchise is in good hands. According to him, youngsters stepping up in pressure situations is one of the most encouraging signs for the team.

Time for the presentation ceremony...

23:43 (IST) May 11

PBKS fly before DC fight back - Uncertain about what the pitch had to offer, Axar Patel invited the Punjab Kings to bat first. PBKS raced to 51 in the first three overs with Priyansh Arya teeing off. One feared the worst for DC, but their pacers settled in on that back-of-a-length and got the ball to move around enough to test the batters. Usually, Cooper Connolly and Shreyas Iyer would look to take the attack straight to the bowlers, but both batters quickly realised this was not an easy surface to hit through the line on. They instead stitched together a valuable partnership to set the platform for a strong finish, though Punjab were unable to capitalise at the death. It was all pace from DC, who bowled all 20 overs through their seamers, while PBKS sent down 19 overs of pace themselves without a single over of spin.

23:39 (IST) May 11

Punjab lose grip under pressure - It was the stand between Axar and David Miller that truly dragged Delhi back into the contest and began to make Punjab nervous. Arshdeep Singh was the shining light for the home side, but after starting well, the rest of the attack struggled to execute under pressure in the dewy conditions. Miller could not see the chase through till the end, but the likes of Ashutosh Sharma, Madhav Tiwari, and eventually Auqib Nabi helped take DC over the line.

23:39 (IST) May 11

Axar anchored the recovery - In pursuit of 211, DC lost three wickets in the Powerplay. When a bowling side manages that early, they more often than not end up on the winning side, but that was not to be for Punjab on the night. Axar Patel led the recovery for Delhi and joined hands with Tristan Stubbs to stitch together an important partnership. The momentum was briefly halted with Stubbs falling to a run out at an inopportune moment.

23:36 (IST) May 11

A quick word with David Miller - On the chat with Axar during their partnership, Miller says they were behind in the game, but he is full of praise for his skipper. He says Axar has been working really hard, and while it has not quite gone his way, he came out tonight with great intent and showed the boys what it is all about. He details that Axar dug in deep and came out with good energy, and the way he played allowed him (Miller) to take a couple of balls to get going. He feels they complemented each other pretty well. On navigating the death overs, Miller says it is a difficult thing, but it is about staying calm. Adds that there is always a long journey, and it is about staying present. He says he keeps clearing his mind of all the noise around run rates, fielding positions and bowling changes, and just tries to think with clarity. On whether there was an extra incentive playing against his former side, Miller says there is always an incentive, but feels it is just the nature of league cricket, going from one team to another. Says that it was a great opportunity to do what he loves and try to finish games. He jokes that he felt like a garbage truck getting out there at the backend, but is glad to have contributed when it mattered. On the surface, Miller shares that there was something in the wicket, with the odd ball staying low, but generally felt it had good bounce, and the ball travelled well. He stresses that it was about keeping the shape and playing good cricket shots.

23:30 (IST) May 11

The captain of the Punjab Kings - Shreyas Iyer, when asked where things went wrong, is very blunt about it. He does not beat around the bush and admits that their fielding and bowling let them down yet again. Admits that they were 30 above par with the way the ball was seaming and adds that there was some variable bounce as well. On whether there was a thought of giving Chahal an over, he says the thought was absolutely there. He adds that with the ball seaming as much as it did for the seamers, had they executed their plans more precisely, they could have finished on the winning side. On the death bowling strategy, he says they stuck to bowling into the surface. He adds that he always backs the hard length, feeling it is difficult for a batter coming in to deal with, and there is always a chance of a mishit producing a wicket.

23:26 (IST) May 11

The Capitals get the job done - Delhi keep themselves alive in the playoff race, however slim the chances may be. A target of 200 or more had never been chased down in Dharamsala before this game, but DC have managed to script history and pull off a much-needed result to keep their campaign breathing. It is now a fourth successive defeat for the Punjab Kings, and they just cannot arrest the slide at a crucial juncture of the tournament. Their bowling and fielding let them down once again on the night.

Ben Dwarshuis to Madhav Tiwari, FOUR! Incredible shot! Hard length, angled across. Madhav arches back and cuts it to the left of backward point for a boundary. The deep third fielder stands no chance to cut that off in the deep.

David Miller slams his bat onto the pads as he trudges off. Out walks Madhav Tiwari, who impressed with the ball earlier in the game. Can he now produce something special with the bat and take the Capitals over the line?

Ben Dwarshuis to David Miller, OUT! STRAIGHT UP AND TAKEN! A big, big moment in the game. Good length around off. Miller waits for the slower one and goes for the pull without footwork, getting a top edge that flies straight up in the air. The keeper, Prabhsimran Singh calls for it and runs a long way forward into the short cover region. Keeps his eyes locked on the ball and dives forward to complete a fine catch. A brilliant knock from Miller comes to an end. He is furious with himself for not getting the job done for his team. Delhi Capitals are 170/6, needing 41 runs from 21 balls.

Ben Dwarshuis to David Miller, SIX MORE! FIFTY FOR DAVID MILLER! From just 27 balls and he has kept the Capitals very much alive in this contest. This is Miller's 14th IPL half-century to go along with a century. Half volley, at pace, outside off. Miller clears his front leg and swings it hard, and effortlessly clears the long on fence for half a dozen more.

Ben Dwarshuis to David Miller, SIX! It's Killer Miller time! He has made that shot look so easy. Back of a length, a slower leg cutter, outside off. David Miller stands tall, waits for it and swats it flatly over the long off fence for a six.

STRATEGIC BREAK! The game is deliciously poised with the Delhi Capitals needing 53 runs from 24 balls. If this has to be DC’s night, it will likely have to come through this pair currently at the crease. The altitude at which the stadium is situated and the way the ball travels nicely in Dharamsala mean that clearing the ropes is not that difficult. Executing with the ball in a dewy outfield is not easy, and that will test this Punjab bowling attack, which has often been taken apart this season. Ben Dwarshuis has been brought back into the attack. Dwarshuis has gone for 34 runs in his 3 overs.

Marco Jansen to Ashutosh Sharma, FOUR! Not exactly where he intended to hit, but runs are runs at this stage. Pitched fuller and around the off pole, straightening off the surface slightly. Ashutosh Sharma positions himself to clobber it covers, but gets a thick outside edge. The ball flies over the ring and Yuzvendra Chahal runs to his right from deep third. Extends his right hand out while diving to palm the ball back in, but fails to prevent the boundary. Chahal holds his left shoulder and looks in a bit of pain out there as he lands hard on it. A massive over for the Capitals as 15 runs come off it.

PBKS vs DC Highlights, IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals pulled off a sensational three-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in a high-scoring IPL 2026 clash at Dharamsala, completing the highest successful chase at the HPCA Stadium. Chasing 211, DC recovered from a disastrous start through brilliant counterattacking knocks from captain Axar Patel and David Miller to stay alive in the playoff race.

Punjab Kings had posted 210/5 after a blazing start from opener Priyansh Arya, who smashed 56 off 33 balls with six huge sixes. The left-hander dominated the powerplay and tore into the DC pace attack, especially Mitchell Starc, who leaked 22 runs in the opening over. However, Delhi fought back strongly once their bowlers adjusted their lengths on the batting-friendly Dharamsala surface. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 59 while Cooper Connolly added 38, but PBKS failed to fully capitalise after their explosive start.

Delhi’s chase got off to a shaky beginning as PBKS reduced them to 74/4. Arshdeep Singh impressed with figures of 2/21, while Yash Thakur and a run-out of Tristan Stubbs tightened Punjab’s grip on the contest.

But Axar smashed 56 off 30 balls and Miller hammered 51 off 28 in a stunning 64-run partnership that turned the match around. Late cameos from Ashutosh Sharma and Madhav Tiwari eventually sealed a dramatic win for DC with an over to spare.
